As if it is not amazing enough that we can learn all about ourselves and our current life through our birth chart in astrology, it also gifted us with knowledge about our past life! Yes, the life we lived before this one. In this post I will talk about how interesting and insightful this is, and about the relevance to the life we are living now.

Rahu and Ketu - The Past Life Axis in Vedic Astrology

​

We reincarnate here on earth to develop ourselves further as a soul. Everything is looking for balance, and the same goes for us as souls.
If we have developed a certain area of life, or ability, well in our last life, the focus in this life will be more on the opposite area of life or ability, to work towards balance.
In Vedic astrology, Rahu and Ketu provide us with this information. They are not planets; they are the north and south nodes of the Moon, mathematical points in space where the Moon's orbital plane intersects with the ecliptic. Very mystical, and yet scientific!
Through the positions in our birth chart of these nodes, we can read information about the area of life that we have been developing in our last life, and which area of life is in need of development because we are simply less experienced at it. The area we have been developing in our past life is something we are working on perfecting in this lifetime.

The life theme of development is shown, what we are balancing out in this life. This is always something people recognize when they hear about it in an astrology session, because this theme plays out throughout our whole life, and it usually gets more emphasised as we grow more mature.

My Past Life Regression Experience

​

In a past life regression session, you are brought under a form of hypnosis and are guided back to your last life, and even lives before that is possible.
When I went for a past life regression session last year, I got the confirmation of the meaning of my Rahu-Ketu position. 
Imagine the excitement I felt as a very enthusiastic astrologer when all this was clearly confirmed during this session! 
My birth chart shows that in this life I am working on taking care of my basic material needs myself. Providing for myself. My map shows me that in my last life, I was taken care of in a way, and I was from a royal family or status. 

When I was guided to my last life, the first thing I saw was me standing on a grey stone castle wall. As I looked down at my feet, I saw I was wearing a long white dress, that was flaring in the wind.
There I was, a princess or lady on a castle, a long, long time ago. How beautiful to see! And indeed, I was taken care of in a certain way, I was not in a position to work and make my own living in that life.

There was a whole beautiful story revealed, and many lessons, but the most important thing is that I fully understood what I am developing in this life, and why certain things are the way they are. Life gives us difficulties in certain areas you see, but the goal is always growth, expansion and balance.

Karma and Balancing Throughout Lives

​

Besides this main theme, there are of course other things that we continue working out in this lifetime. Every action has a reaction.

The relationship(s) we have had in past lives, how we treated others and how we were treated, it all continues to balance itself out through the lives we live.
The people who we were involved with in our past life, can show up in this life again, if there is something unfinished between you both. When the karmas are worked out/completed between the two of you, you part ways. 
Someone who comes into your life may seem like a stranger to you at first, but you might have a history together...

A Deeper Understanding of Your Path

When we begin to see our life through this wider lens, something shifts. What feels confusing or difficult in our life can start to make more sense.

Vedic astrology offers us insight - not only into who we are in this life, but into our deeper patterns!

Through the placement of Rahu and Ketu, we are given insight into what has been developed before to a certain extent, and what is now asking for our attention.
Understanding this can bring a form of clarity. 
It does not take away life's challenges, but it can help us meet them with more awareness, and perhaps with a little more acceptance.

For me, seeing my past life reflected so clearly through both astrology and regression, is exhilarating, and a confirmation of how much knowledge we are given through astrology!
It offers us a way of understanding where we are coming from, and where we are guided to grow.
